The Sony SmartBand 2 provides IP68 water resistant for depths up to 3 meters, provided notifications in form of vibrations and color LEDs when you receive a call, a message or an email instead of display and a heart-rate monitor. It supports devices running on Android 4.4 KitKat or higher on Android, while on Apple iOS8.1 or higher. The battery though disappointingly lasts just 2-5 days.
The SmartBand 2 pairs up with Sony’s Lifelog app, which monitors & tracks your heart rate, stress levels, and many other activities. The app will also provide usual fitness statistics to track over time, including steps taken and heart rate. It supports NFC, Bluetooth on connectivity front for syncing the data over time.
The Sony SmartBand 2 is set to launch in September for a price of around $130 and will be available in black, white, pink and indigo color options. The SmartBand 2 is yet to impress us, easily still way expensive than the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 1S which also will feature a heart-rate monitor.
