Apple today went on and had the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus announced as their latest additions to the the iPhone series at an Apple event today. Time to take a peek at what “new” features Apple has got, to fool us into these new devices.
The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will come with an Apple A9 chipset and 2GB of RAM which finally moves out of the 1GB RAM space. The latest chip from Apple claims to boast 70% faster CPU performance and 90% GPU performance over the Apple A8. This also speeds up the fingerprinting scanners by 2X times.
The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus comes with 12MP camera capable of 4K video recording, as they move over the 8MP camera in the predecessor. At the front, the phones have a 5MP camera that promises a great selfie experience. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will come with 4.7-inch at 720p resolution and 5.5-inches with a 1080p resolution display respectively. Apple has moved on to an interestingly new feature which is 3D Touch.
The announced Force touch will be known as 3D Touch, which allows the phone to differentiate between a deep press and a tap touch. This will help app developers to develop their apps around this feature and give add another dimension to the user experience.
On the software front, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will ship with iOS 9 out-of-box, which was first introduced earlier this summer. The OS update introduces new split-screen app modes for select devices, Apple Map improvements, a whole new updated “News” app, picture-in-picture video capability, Apple Pay enhancements, and much more.
On the pricing front, the iPhone 6S starts at $199 on contract for the 16GB model, with the larger iPhone 6S starting at $299 for the same storage configuration. The 64GB model will be contracted at $100, and another $200 after that for the 128GB model.
The availability of the devices was announced to be in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan , New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will come in four color choices which includes silver, gold, space gray, and rose gold.
