Samsung, after lot of speculation on the range of smartphones to be launched finally gave us a surprise. Samsung announced their new REX series of phones in India, which will target at the low-end segment of phones in the Indian Market. It doesn’t stop here, they will be coming with 4 different REX smartphones namely REX 60, RX 70, REX 80 and REX 90.
Precisely, the specifications are, REX 60 being the cheapest of the lot will come with a 2.8-inch QVGA resolution resistive touchscreen, 1.3 megapixel camera, 30MB memory with microSD card slot, dual-SIM support and 1,000mAh battery. The REX 70 has a 3.0-inch, QVGA resolution display, 2 megapixel camera, 10MB memory with microSD card slot, dual-SIM support and 1,000mAh battery. The REX 80 has similar features as the REX 70 but a higher resolution 3 megapixel camera, 20MB memory with microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and 1,000mAh battery. Finally, the REX 90 sports a 3.5-inch capacitive HVGA display, smart Dual-SIM with true hot swap, Wi-Fi, 3.2-megapixel camera and 1,000mAh battery.
Apart from all this, Samsung is using its TouchWiz UI and comes with Facebook and Twitter integration. As for the prices, the Rex 60 is priced at Rs 4,280, the Rex 70 costs Rs 4,570, the Rex 80 is available for Rs 5,270, and the Rex 90 for Rs 6,490. These will not be Android-based smartphones, and Samsung seems to encourage it’s own self-made product into the market.
